Welcome to our new and improved website. Our goal is to engage and inform local fire protection safety professionals in the Portland/Vancouver/Salem metro areas by sharing information and offering worthy educational opportunities. In order for you to receive information, we encourage any fire safety professional to register as a user on our new site.

You do not need to be a member of the chapter (though it is highly encouraged) but you DO need to register on the site to receive timely information via email or to access some of the content included here. Even if you choose not to register, we encourage you to come and participate in any of our chapter meetings or events.

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), Cascade Chapter is an affiliate of the International SFPE Organization. The Cascade Chapter consists of fire protection and safety minded persons in the Oregon and Southwest Washington region whose object is:

a. To unite for mutual benefit those persons actively engaged in and promoting the art and science of fire protection engineering and its allied fields.
b. To provide a means for exchanging information which may enhance or affect fire protection engineering.
c. To develop, encourage, and maintain a high professional and ethical standard among its members.
d. To foster and promote fire protection engineering education.

Chapter membership consists of not only fire protection engineers but Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s), companies who design, install and service all types of fire protection systems, insurance representatives, property/facility management agencies and more

 With the exception of our summer break in July/August, the SFPE Cascade Chapter organizes a monthly educational meeting on the second Thursday of each month. The meetings start at 11:30 AM at the Lake Oswego Fire Department main station with a brief lunch (included in fee for educational session),  followed with a one hour presentation by a guest speaker (roughly noon to 1:00 PM). The educational sessions are a valuable tool for socializing/networking with other fire protection professionals as well as earning Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) or Professional Development Units (PDU’s).

The Cascade Chapter is in the process of developing a training plan for sponsoring a number of training opportunities in the area. If you are interested in assisting with organizing any of these training programs, please email info@cascadesfpe.org.
